"Dr. Phil" Christman Director of Tennis “Dr. Phil” returned to Shady after a two year absence. During that time he taught psychology at Stark State and tennis year-round at North Canton Racquet Club. Loving his dual careers: serving on faculty at a local college and teaching tennis, Dr. Phil loves applying the knowledge he’s gained from BOTH careers in helping players become more skilled and stronger physically and mentally. Dr. Phil looks forward to reacquainting himself with players and families, many of whom he was privileged to introduce to tennis years ago. He is also excited to meet new members and families to Shady. As a former USTA ranked player, and PA state singles champion, Phil has won a record 26 Canton City Championships in every “A” division, but Mixed Doubles. Active in NE Ohio Adult Tennis, Phil has helped manage USTA Summer adult leagues for years, currently coordinating the adult 2.5 women’s Summer League. Since 2009, he has been a tennis professional at the North Canton Racquet Club. Off the court, he has an earned PhD in Community Counseling and teaches psychology courses at a local college. Both he and his wife, Linda, are avid bikers and XC skiers. The live in Louisville, have three adult, married children & four grandchildren. TENNIS: A SPORT FAMILY CAN ENJOY FOR LIFE
